Former Ferrari driver Filip Presnajder and F1 Esports Challengers PS4 runner-up Thijmen Schutte will complete Alfa Romeo’s driver line-up for the 2021 F1 Esports season.

They join Simon Weigang who signed for the team earlier in the year after leaving Haas.

Alfa Romeo took Jarno Opmeer to the 2020 drivers’ title but required a completely new line-up for 2021. Opmeer signed for Mercedes in January while Daniel Bereznay, who raced for Alfa Romeo in both 2019 and 2020, announced his departure from the team earlier in the year but hasn’t currently revealed who he’ll be driving for this year.

Presnajder was only given one chance to drive for Ferrari in the 2020 Pro Series and narrowly missed out scoring points with an 11th place finish.

Dutchman Schutte will make his top-flight F1 Esports debut after winning three races in the PS4 F1 Esports Challengers series and missing out on the championship win by a single point.

In yesterday’s Pro Exhibition, which featured four challenges for the 30 new drivers to prove themselves in, Schutte was the third fastest in the PS4 race at China in the wet.

That was his best result in the four challenges as he was seventh of 10 in the PS4 bracket at the Bahrain race, set the fourth highest score of the PS4 drivers in the in-game event challenge and finally was beaten by Valentin Bruffer in the one lap knockout competition at Silverstone.

The other teams have until the end of July to confirm their three drivers for F1 Esports for the Pro Championship.
